Big tankers need big horsepower. This Peterbilt includes a 430 HP Series 60 Detroit Diesel engine, and an Allison HT-740 heavy-duty automatic transmission. Getting water to the fire is no problem! The Code 3 warning light system insures safety during tanker shuttle operations.
This "TANKER 1" Series fire tanker is the largest unit in a "Tanker Task Force" which includes eleven fire departments. The 3,500-gallon stainless steel water tank can be filled with 4" large diameter hose in four minutes. The 10 Newton rear dump valve can empty this impressive truck in less than two minutes!
General - Model BFT-3500 elliptical tanker, including a Peterbilt Model 379 chassis, a 430 HP Series 60 Detroit Diesel engine, Jake brake, brite finish vertical exhaust stack, an Allison 4-speed transmission, heavy duty 110,000 psi double rail frame with Grade 8 bolts, Realwheel stainless steel inserts, a 400 GPM PTO pump with enclosures, a pre-connected 4" cross-lay for rapid pumping operations, and a pre-connected 1-1/2" cross-lay for back-up use.Other equipment includes a left side compartment for fittings and adapters, and a large curb-side compartment for storage of a 600 GPM Honda portable pump. Warning equipment includes a Code 3 NFPA warning light system with XL light bar, halogen flashers on all four sides, dual halogen rear rotators, a 100-watt electronic siren, 4" gold custom NFPA striping, and gold custom reflective lettering.
